Often, home and school visits are suggested when there is a big discrepancy between the child’s progress at home/school and at the clinic. Regular (once a month) home/school visits are also recommended for children who are using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

These visits enable the Speech-Language Pathologist to observe the child within his/her home and school environment, and then provide specific recommendations to caregivers and teachers to further increase the child’s compliance, language level and social-interaction skills in the home/school settings.

A meeting with the teachers in charge and parents/ caregivers usually follows within a week’s time after the school visit, to further discuss about the specific strategies, options and plans for the child.
